DREAMS do come true, says a Chester mum who has had her first book published.
Corrie Moral, 32, of Parkgate Road, Chester was on holiday in Egypt last November when inspiration struck for a children’s story - and Daisy’s Dreams and Adventures was born.
Having spent the rest of the holiday thinking about the book, she set about writing and illustrating on her return to the UK.
“It was actually really strange, I just woke up one morning with the story and how it would be illustrated clearly in my head,” she remembers.
“I was pregnant with my son Camilo at the time so I often tell him he was my tiny inspiration.
“I’ve always been artistic, and as a child I used to write stories and record them on a tape recorder – it sort of makes sense that I should end up writing a book.”
In fact, Corrie is also talented with life drawings but had previously put art to one side when she left school.
After a career in sales, she and her husband Dan set up their own business, Virtuoso Recruitment, based off Sealand Road, three years ago.
She added: “When we got back from holiday, I wrote the story, got all my art things out and started drawing. It was like a project to keep me busy while I was off work before Camilo arrived.”
Daisy’s Dreams and Adventures is made up of two imaginative stories which not only encourage children that taking naps and going to bed at night is important, but also teaches them about history as Daisy and her pet dog Diggers go back in time to find out about Dinosaurs and Ancient Egypt.
On the advice of a relative, Corrie contacted a publisher and her book is now available on Amazon.
Corrie is also hoping to hold a book signing at Waterstone’s Chester in February.
