Blacon man dies in lorry crush horror

A CHESTER man has died after he was crushed between two lorries.

Tony Schulze, 49, who worked for Runcorn haulage firm Freight First, had got out of his HGV when it started to roll forward.

As he attempted to get back into the cab, he became trapped between the vehicle and a stationary lorry, sustaining fatal injuries.

Police and fire crews attended the scene on Goddard Road, Astmoor Industrial Estate, Runcorn, at about 1pm on Saturday.

Close family and relatives of Mr Schulze, who was the youngest of three children, were too distressed to comment this week.

His 87-year-old mother still lives in the Blacon house where Mr Schulze grew up.

Cheshire Constabulary spokeswoman PC Shelly Williams said the incident has been reported to the Cheshire coroner but an inquest has yet to be opened.

A spokesman for the Health and Safety Executive said they were investigating the incident and could not comment further at this stage.
