FIVE aspiring actors from West Cheshire College have been chosen to appear in a horror film produced by TV and film production students at Edge Hill University.
The Year 1 West Cheshire College students, all studying theatre and performance, were selected to appear in the horror film The Wood following auditions with Edge Hill in Ormskirk.
Edge Hill student Mayank Gupta, 21, from Birmingham, said: “We knew we needed some really talented young actors to pull off the roles in this film and as West Cheshire College has a fantastic reputation we contacted them to see if they wanted to get involved.
“We were hugely impressed at the standard of the auditions and it was really difficult to select our five roles but eventually we chose Antony Blazey for the role of Bradley, Ellen Buckley as Georgina, Joel Anderson as Mark, Lauren Bowles as Caitlin and Natalie Renicks as Melissa. We can’t wait to start filming.”
The eight-minute horror film, set in Ormskirk, will tell the story of five characters who visit a wood after a hard week of university exams – there they will be met with a mysterious figure lurking in the darkness, providing a chilling end to a tough week of studies.
The film, which will be directed and edited by students studying TV production management at Edge Hill, is part of a module which teaches how to plan, identify and manage resources for a professional production.
Darren Mawdsley, performing arts tutor at West Cheshire College, said: “We encourage our students to get involved with as many projects as possible and work hard to build links with outside organisations.
“This project with Edge Hill allows our students to develop their skills in front of the camera as well as putting them into contact with future industry professionals.ŠIt is also a fantastic link with one of our local universities.”
The project will start filming on March 4 and will be shown in-house at Edge Hill University and will be used as part of a show reel for Edge Hill TV Production and West Cheshire College theatre and performance students.
