CHESTER residents are being encouraged to don their walking boots and brave the outdoors in a bid to improve their wellbeing.
NHS Western Cheshire has teamed up with Age Concern Chester and Cheshire West and Chester Council to devise a new programme for 2011 which encourages members of the community to meet up and get fit.
Chester Health Walks are led by trained volunteers on a variety of generally level ground routes all over Chester, and are suitable for all ages and abilities.
Gentle, steady paced walks on the programme begin on Mondays at Blacon’s United Reformed Church, Wednesdays on Caldy Valley Road, Christleton, and on Fridays at the Little Roodee Cafe by Grosvenor Bridge.
Slightly longer walks take place on Tuesdays in Westminster Park, meeting at the Golf Cafe and on Thursdays in Hoole, meeting at the Bawn Lodge Hotel on Hoole Road.
All sessions begin at 10.30am, and on the first Wednesday of each month, the Christleton group will meet at the Ring O'Bells pub on Village Road.
