A COMEDY club seating hundreds of people is opening in Chester next month.
Work is progressing to convert the former Deva Show Bar in Station Road, near the railway station, into a Las Vegas-style club.
John Locke and Dave Coughlin, partners in The Commercial Hotel, are behind the live entertainment venture The Laugh Inn, which will also feature music, cabaret, burlesque and performance poetry.
The main theatre, with auditorium and mezzanine balcony above, will seat up to 450 people and Homer’s lounge bar will comfortably fit up to 150 people.
Homer’s Bar will be open seven days a week from noon until late. Comedy will be presented in the theatre every Thursday to Saturday, and in Homers bar every Sunday.
Business partner Mr Coughlin said: “The Laugh Inn will provide Chester with an arts and entertainment venue that has been sadly lacking for many years – a state-of-the-art space for all to enjoy.”
He added: “We will be presenting classic film nights, touring comedy shows, independent theatre productions, conversational evenings with the famous and infamous, poetry events, music, charity shows and selected quality club nights as well as children’s events at weekends.
“DJs, bands and burlesque circus will also continue the party after the comedy show concludes every weekend.”
The Laugh Inn opens to the public on Tuesday, February 1. In addition, the venue will be for hire by local businesses for conferences and networking events.
