Blacon Youth Theatre launched

A GROUP of young people from Chester have launched a youth theatre.

Blacon Youth Theatre has been set up by Sam Crimes and Laura Ferris, both 22, and their friends with help of charity ITV Fixers.

The free workshops are intended to give children aged between eight and 16 something worthwhile to do.

Sam said: “We both felt there was not an awful lot to do in the area, so we hope that the youth theatre will give them something to do.

“We will pass all our knowledge on about performing and hope everyone will thrive from the experience.

“ITV Fixers has been there as extra support with understanding and help with any documents we did not understand.

“They also helped with the posters and flyers as well as the logo - we are very grateful.”

The project will be run in partnership with Chester and District Housing Trust.

Resident involvement manager at the trust Sue Kennaugh said: “We are

delighted and are hoping that many young people will come along to find out more about the youth theatre and sign up.”

The youth theatre is free and is open to eight to 11-year-olds on Tuesdays and 12 to 16-year-olds on Thursdays, and will run for six weeks at Blacon Community and Arts Centre, Church Way, from 5pm.
