Blacon man convicted of sexual assault given suspended jail term

A MAN has been given a suspended eight year jail sentence after being convicted of sexually assaulting a teenager.

Christopher John Lloyd, 33, of Highfield Road, Blacon was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register at Chester Magistrates Court for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl on April 18 this year.

At his earlier trial, the jury heard how Lloyd went into the girl’s room and made sexual comments before fondling her.

Despite her protests, Lloyd continued to touch the girl, attempting to pull down her trousers before he eventually stopped and left the room, instructing her not to tell anyone.

At Lloyd’s trial in November, he denied assault but admitted touching her inappropriately ‘for a joke’ and claimed he was ‘just messing around’ but the jury found him guilty

Added to Lloyd’s sentence was a three year restraining order against the victim as well as a total of £200 deducted from his benefits.

Michael Whitty, defending, said: “This was a one-off offence committed by a man who has no drink or drug problems. But he is now separated from his wife and three children, and lost his job and his home. He is a man punished in many other ways.”
