UPDATE: Man taken by air ambulance to hospital after Wrexham Road HGV crash near Chester

EMERGENCY services remain at the scene of a five vehicle collision on the A483 Wrexham road reported at 7.20am today.

One person was severely trapped by the collision and had to be released from the wreckage by fire crews.

A man in his 40s has been airlifted to Aintree hospital and his condition is described as serious.

A lorry carrying livestock sustained minor damage, with the other HGV loads believed to be beer and cement.

The Belgrave roundabout and the Wrexham bound carriageway remains closed.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “There is a significant build up of traffic in the area and whilst recovery of the vehicles involved is ongoing, we advise motorists to seek alternative routes.”
