Sir John Deane’s College students visit the Countess of Chester Hospital

HEALTH-CONSCIOUS biology students from Sir John Deane’s College visited the Countess of Chester Hospital for a fact-finding day.

The 35 students were introduced to different disciplines within pathology and encouraged to consider careers in the subject.

The visit began with a short talk then the chance for students to investigate areas like haematology, microbiology and genetics but the highlight was the virtual autopsy – also known as a post mortem – during which students were taken step by step through the procedure’s process, followed by a problem-solving investigation.
