300 tonnes of hay destroyed in barn fire near Chester

THREE hundred tonnes of hay was destroyed in a barn fire in Wimbolds Trafford, near Chester, in the early hours of this morning (Friday, November 12).

Firefighters had to cope with 50mph winds as they tackled the blaze in Ince Lane from midnight until 6am.

Six pumps attended and two remain at the scene dampening down the barn.

Firefighter Wayne Clarke said: “There is a considerable amount of wood loss. The wind conditions didn’t help but using our professional skills we overcame the situation.”
