MP Stephen Mosley supports Age UK Chester event

MP STEPHEN Mosley joined Age UK Chester local committee and guests on their canal boat dinner held at the Mill Hotel in Chester.

During a evening of entertainment and fun including songs sung by international peace singer Carole Sheldon, Mr Mosley spoke about the importance of volunteers in today’s ‘big society’ and the forward thinking approach of Age UK’s research teams looking at the needs of older people in the future.

His contribution to the evening and his support were much appreciated by all in attendance.

Funds raised during this gala event will be used for research into ageing and researcher Dr Luminata Paraoan from Liverpool Royal University Hospital spoke about the progress of her own research into the causes of eye diseases such as macular degeneration.

Investigating the causes of sight loss, dementia, incontinence and other life limiting and isolating conditions in the older population are the main thrust of Age UK’s research.

The local committee raises funds throughout the year by organising various events such as the boat trip, bag packing and they are currently planning a Christmas fundraising
