Cheshire Police is going in search of a 400-year-old church bell stolen from Shotwick

POLICE are appealing for help from the public to trace a 400-year-old church bell stolen from Shotwick.

The cast iron bell, which weighs 400lb was stolen from the bell tower at St Michael’s Church in Shotwick sometime between Sunday, October 3 and Thursday, October 7. The bell was on the floor of the tower at the time.

PC Jo O’Hara said: “This bell was made in 1664 and has great historical and sentimental value to the church and the community in Shotwick. I would appeal for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious behaviour around the church in the last few days to contact police with any information they have.
