Tesco Extra Broughton on the ball for Airbus UK

A BROUGHTON football club bagged a bumper donation from a local supermarket.

Airbus UK commercial director Stewart Roberts and his colleagues received a giant cheque for £400 from Broughton Shopping Park’s Tesco Extra store.

Darren Symonds, non-food manager at the store, was on hand to present the team with the cheque, which will go toward match sponsorship.

Stewart thanked the store for the donation and said: “The more revenue we generate, the better facilities and equipment we can provide the senior team and the youngsters in our thriving Academy and youth squads.

“The £400 match sponsorship will cover three high-profile Welsh Premier League games later in the year. We hope to build a lasting relationship with Tesco as we drive the club forward and hopefully into Europe.”Š

Julie Swindells, store manager, said: “We take our community responsibilities very seriously and we are delighted to make this contribution to such a wonderful, local organisation.

“I hope the money goes a long way to helping the club and it was pleasure meeting everyone.”

The cheque donation was made to coincide with a weekend of offers at the store, where staff members modelled the new clothing range and customers were treated to free gifts, paninis and coffee if they visited the mezzanine floor.
