AFTER five years of fundraising Bunbury Scout group finally broke ground on its new scout headquarters.
When the project began in 2005, the group identified they would need £200,000 to create a new modern building to replace their old hut.
It took a lot of hard work and planning consent negotiations to get the project under way.
Several grant funders were present at the ground-breaking ceremony, including Richard Smith of WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental) who provided £50,000, Jonathan Pochin of Pochin Construction who gave the scouts £5,000 and Ron White of Tarporley Rotary Club which also granted the group £5,000.
More than 150 people attended the ceremony as well as Eddisbury MP Stephen O’Brien who said: “Bunbury can be very proud of its young people and this project will at last provide them with a building that can be used by all of the youth groups in the village.”
