THERE were smiles all round at a family fun quiz trail at the Forestry Commission’s Delamere Forest.
The event, which was held on Bank Holiday Sunday, was organised by North & Mid-Cheshire Ramblers.
More than 150 young people and families were set a one-mile course with challenges such as how to use a compass, spotting a Cheshire Cat in the branches and answering questions about trees, the forest and Ramblers’ president Julia Bradbury.
Ramblers’ area vice-chairman David Richards said: “It was a really successful event. We wanted to make more people aware of the valuable work done by the Ramblers – as well as giving youngsters and family groups a fun and educational day in the outdoors.
“Many of the mums and dads were interested in joining the Ramblers – which is what we wanted to hear!”
Richard Mostyn, Forestry Commission ranger at Delamere, added: “It was great to see so many young people enjoying and learning about our forest.
“We were delighted to be able to work with the Ramblers to make this event such a success.”
