A TALENTED young musician has passed her Grade 8 saxophone exam at just 13.
Lily Wearden, of Handbridge, is the youngest pupil of teacher Louise Denton to be entered for the highest grade in any instrument.
Louise said: “Lily’s just really talented. She’s got such a good attitude and is prepared to work hard.”
Lily, a pupil at Chester Catholic High School, has just been given lead tenor saxophone in the school’s swing band, The Chester City Jazz Orchestra.
She said: “My teacher rang me when I was on tour with the band in Nice and I was thrilled.”
Lily started learning to play saxophone at primary school and she also plays piano.
