CREWS had to deal with a spate of rubbish fires over a two-hour period late on Wednesday, July 28.
Arsonists started nine fires, targeting wheelie bins and skips, from 10.30pm onwards.
They began in Bold Place, Chester, at 10.30pm and carried on for two hours, ending in Garden Lane near the university campus.
Firefighter Billy Lenthall says dealing with these types of incidents is a huge waste of resources that could delay them from attending serious or life-threatening calls.
He added: “People need to think of what they’re doing and the consequences of their actions.”
