Weaver Vale Housing Trust raises £20,000 for The Joshua Tree children’s charity in Sandiway

A HOLIDAY house and support centre for children with life-threatening illnesses has been boosted by £20,000 of funding.

Weaver Vale Housing Trust raised the five-figure sum over two years and donated the majority to The Joshua Tree charity in Sandiway.

A series of sponsored events, including a 12-hour run and 1,000-mile walking challenge, has been a major source of fundraising.

Lynda Hill, from the Joshua Tree, said: “We are so thankful for Weaver Vale Housing Trust’s support over the last couple of years. The charity committee there have worked tirelessly, putting on different events to raise money for The Joshua Tree.”

As well as fundraising for the Joshua Tree WVHT has also held regular sponsored dress-down days to raise more than £2,000 for a number of other charities including Children in Need, Sports Relief, Shelter, Marie Curie, Cancer Research, Action Medical Research, Halton Haven Hospital and the Floods in Cumbria fund.

WVHT’s Fran Sant Staff said: “Staff at the Trust have been extremely enthusiastic in their support of the Joshua Tree over the last two years and I hope that the money raised will make a real difference to their fantastic cause.

“We are very proud of all our charity work and are always looking for new ideas to raise money.”
