Power cut leaves 300 properties in the dark and forces closure of Acresfield Primary in Upton

A POWER cut forced the closure of a primary school in Upton.

Parents of pupils at Acresfield Primary School, Acres Lane, Upton were asked to collect their children when the lights went out at the school at around midday today (Friday, July 16).

By 1.30pm, most of the 300 properties that lost power were due to have their power back on.

A fault in an overhead power cable has been blamed for the cut.

Paul Ferguson, a spokesman for Manweb, said: “The engineers will be switching people onto other sources of power.

“They will be going in to carry out permanent power repairs.

“We apologise for any inconvenience but we had guys out to fix it as soon as we could.”
