Opening night of Chester’s Open Air Theatre survives rain

RAIN didn’t stop play at the opening night of the Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre’s production of Shakespear’s Much Ado About Nothing last night (Thursday July 15).

The heavens opened ten minutes before curtain up at the temporary theatre in the city park but the actors and the audience soldiered on.

Nancy Davies, makerting and PR manager of Chester Performs, the company behind the project said: “People came prepared for the weather. A lot came an hour before the show to enjoy their picnics when the weather was alright.

“It started to rain just before the start and then again just after the interval.”

Tickets for the show, from £10, are available at www.chesterperforms.com, by calling 0842 208 0500 or from Chester Tourist Information Centre
