Upton Heath Primary School celebrates summer fair success
A PRIMARY school in Chester is celebrating after raising a record-breaking total at their summer fete.
Upton Heath Primary School made £4,506 at this year’s event, which is going towards a £6,500 fund for new computers.
The fete was based around a football tournament organised by S4YC (Sport 4 Your Community), with pupils representing teams in the World Cup.
Acting headteacher Paula Moreton said: “The event was an enormous success, from the organisation and planning by the PTA and children to the actual day itself.
“We wanted to make a statement to the community that shows how fantastic our children are.
“This has been a challenging year for pupils, parents and staff. Despite this we have shown that working in partnership with all families we can achieve great things.
“We have a strong sense of community spirit and made everyone proud to be associated, once again, with Upton Heath CE Primary School.”
As part of the day, children took part in a themed parade in team colours, and six children won places at a summer club by winning a penalty shoot-out contest.
Other attractions included an animal handling workshop, portrait photography, beer tent with local brewery Spitting Feathers, and a barbecue.
Music during the day was provided by a DJ plus performances from The Chester Songbirds, a World Cup singing event with An Croenen and a Year 7 band called The Union came from Upton High School.
Shayle Barlow, of Upton Heath PTA, who organised the event, said: “We would like to thank everyone who helped to organise the day and volunteered their time to help out, and to thank all the people who generously donated gifts and raffle prizes.”
