TWO of Chester city centre’s police community support officers (PCSOs) took to the skies to raise money for charity.
PCSOs Andy Jones and Melissa Sawojka took part in skydiving sessions for charity with members of their family.
Andy and his mum, Elizabeth Jones, joined Anita Garwood of the Farndon First Responders in a skydive to raise money for Cancer Research and the first responders.
Andy said: “This was something I always wanted to do and the fact that it was for Cancer Research also meant a lot to us. My uncle, Connor Chadwick, has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.”
Between them, Andy and Elizabeth managed to raise £2,200.
Andy said: “It was a fantastic experience and I am glad we managed to raise so much money for two very good causes.”
PCSO Mel Sawojka followed in Andy’s footsteps and joined her brother, Daniel, on a skydive to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The pair raised £338 in memory of their grandmother, Dorothy Sawojka who died from cancer.
Melissa said: “I enjoyed it so much I enrolled on a course to be able to complete solo skydives. I’d really like to thank everyone who sponsored us.”
