Queen’s Park High School students in Night at the Museum

STUDENTS from a Chester high school have spent a night at the museum.

The Year 7 pupils from Queen’s Park High School in Handbridge slept in sleeping bags at the Science Museum in London.

The event came at the end of a project sponsored by Shell aimed at enthusing and inspiring young people about science.

The youngsters spent the night in the museum’s Space Exploration Gallery with pupils from 20 other schools from Chester and across the UK.

For the second year running, the school won the Best Behaved School Award.

The young scientists took part in workshops and completed the Launch Pad Challenge to build a chain reaction contraption. The Queen’s Park High pupils designed and built a water wheel that caused a domino effect, spelling out the name of the school.

Science co-ordinator Vicky Prydden, who led the programme, said: “This was a fabulous opportunity for our students to work alongside real scientists.”
