Whitegate’s flying doctor to attempt world record attempt for jetpack marathon around Great Britain

A DARING doctor is planning to break a world record for flying around Great Britain with a jetpack on his back.

Dr Paul Cronin, of Whitegate, has just 21 days to jet around Britain’s coastline wearing a 30kg motorbike engine.

Dr Cronin will be paramotoring, at about 800ft above the ground, in aid of Christie Hospital in Manchester.

He said: “It is just technically possible for me to go the whole way round.

“But paramotoring is extremely weather dependent and to complete the full journey would require roughly 20 days with no rain and reasonable winds. So a little bit of luck will be required!”

If Dr Cronin is successful then he will be the first to complete a paramotor marathon in Britain, an achievement to be confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records.

Due to fuel limitations, each leg of the 2,000 mile journey will last between two and three hours.
