Dreams come true for Chester actress

AN ACTRESS from Chester has landed a wicked role in the West End.

Stevie Tate-Bauer is appearing in The Wizard of Oz follow-up musical Wicked at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre.

She recently understudied the role of Nessarose for three weeks when actress Cassie Compton broke her wrist and she is also understudy for the lead role of Elphaba.

Stevie’s theatrical life started in 1992, when, at the age of 12, she landed the eponymous role in Tip Top Productions’ Annie at Chester’s Gateway Theatre.

She played many parts with Tip Top before going on to study musical theatre at London’s Arts Educational school at 18.

Previous West End roles include parts in Footloose and the musical version of Lord of the Rings. Stevie’s mother and father, Pam and Bob Bauer, who live on the Groves, are still actively involved with Tip Top Productions, which is producing The Wizard of Oz at Clwyd Theatr Cymru next week.

Pam says: “Dreams really can come true and Stevie has always felt that her work with Tip Top has helped her to get where she is today.”

The Wizard of Oz is at Clwyd Theatr Cymru from June 15-19. Tickets from the box office on 0845 330 3565.
