PUPILS at Newton Primary School have been finding out about different religions.
The group of Year 5 children and their teachers visited the Jewish Museum and the Central Mosque in Manchester.
The trip was part of the primary l religious education syllabus which advises children to visit a church, cathedral, synagogue or mosque to expand their understanding of some of the major world religions.
In the Jewish Museum, inside a synagogue, the youngsters were given a talk, shown artefacts and given a demonstration of Shabbat celebrations.
At the mosque they listened to the Imam explain the main beliefs of Islam and sat quietly to watch prayer time.
RE teacher Helen Longmuir said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the visit to both the synagogue and mosque which have broadened their knowledge and experience of other cultures and religions.”
