Chester Queen’s School sixth formers celebrate last day at school

HONOUR and Wizardom is the new Chester Queen’s School motto this week as sixth-formers transformed the 19th Century City Walls Road building into Hogwarts.

The traditional Honour and Wisdom was turned on its head as Year 13 students celebrated their last day at the independent girls’ school before starting A-level study leave.

The girls enjoyed lessons in the Dark Arts and Potion Classes with chemistry teachers Fiona Costigan and Dave Cripps, aka Professor McCostigan and Severus Snape. Hopeful pranksters also stuck a Strutt and Parker To Let sign outside the school.

Headmistress Catherine Buckley, who retires at the end of the school year, joined in the fun by dressing as a witch.

She said: “I felt a little pang this morning as this will be my last Leavers’ Day. The girls are a pleasure to be around and I will miss them a lot.”

Earlier in the day Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans mentioned Mrs Buckley and the Leavers’ Day activities on his BBC breakfast show yesterday.
