Doubletree by Hilton hotel in Chester wins Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors award

THE outstanding redevelopment of a Chester hotel has scooped a top award at the region’s property “Oscars”.

Work on the Doubletree by Hilton Chester hotel picked up the prize in the Tourism and Leisure category at the awards organised by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

New owners Sanguine Hospitality reversed years of under-investment to commission Liverpool architects Falconer Chester Hall to come up with an elegant makeover for the property.

The award was presented at the RICS North West Awards dinner held in Manchester.

“This is great recognition for the work we produced to transform this hotel through a £28m programme of extension and refurbishment,” said FCH managing director Adam Hall.

“It is rewarding for us to see how highly our work is regarded in this way.”

The Sanguine Hospitality investment has resulted in an increased capacity of 140 bedrooms, a spa rated among the best in the region which features six different water treatments and 12 treatment rooms, and the affordable glamour of the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse, Bar & Grill.

A total of 49 schemes made it onto the shortlist for the eight prestigious RICS property awards which are awarded to the region's most inspirational initiatives in the land, property and construction sectors.
