Frodsham and District Choral Society celebrated their 40th anniversary with a Crowning Glories concert

A SPECIAL concert celebrated the 40th anniversary of Frodsham and District Choral Society at St Laurence Church.

Welcoming former conductors back into the fray the concert, titled Crowning Glories, took place on Saturday, April 24 and included a piece called Frodsham 800 commissioned for the concert.

Conductor Howard Kane said: “They say life begins at 40 and I think we proved that.

“The choir sang with a consistency of focus and attack which was very thrilling.”

The brass and percussion hired for the event, the Manchester Sinfonia Brass, created a sense of excitement as they played in John Rutter’s Gloria and the audience was also treated to some wonderful items from them, including the Earl of Oxford’s March by William Byrd.

Former conductors John Bromley, Emrys Jones, founding member Carol Wilson and Frodsham Mayor Geoff Bath attended the event.
