Catwalk capers at Blacon High School as part of GCSE course
BLACON High School students have been strutting their stuff on the catwalk.
Pupils studying GCSE textiles organised a fashion show to model garments that they have designed and made for themselves or for others.
The most popular choice was to create formal evening dress in readiness for the Year 11 Prom, which will take place at Chester Racecourse in July, although one student designed a special ballet tutu for her seven-year old sister.
Textiles teacher Jacqueline Ash said: “I was impressed with the very adventurous designs this year and students used a good range of colour.
“The show went very well and was very professional. It’s become an important date in the school calendar and pupils look forward to it every year.”
Design and sewing of the garments begins in September and is completed by February in time for the show. The garments were first displayed for the Wirral Holistic Society at a charity event at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel in Hoole.
