Community project sees Kelsall Primary School pupils and volunteers plant bulbs and flowers on Kelsall Green

YOUNGSTERS got their hands dirty during the latest initiative on Kelsall Green.

Volunteers and an army of green-fingered schoolchildren from nearby Kelsall Primary School descended on the community area off Chester Road to plant bulbs and flowers.

It is the latest move by the Kelsall Green project committee to include the village’s younger generation in the development of the facility, which boasts an expanding recreation area.

Fundraising committee member Tara Edelman said: “We want Kelsall Green to be a nice place for the community which includes butterflies, bumble bees and all the native insets.

“We are also encouraging the children to feel like Kelsall Green is theirs so getting them from a young age to get involved, getting their hands dirty and planting things.

“It has also had an impact on the amount of anti-social behaviour in the village because children growing up feel protective of it.

“Everything about Kelsall Green has been about a community project. There is nothing there that hasn’t been initiated or executed by the people of Kelsall.

“We are also so lucky because it is on a safe route to the school.”
