Welsh man denies wounding off-duty Cheshire police officer at Chester Crown Court

A MAN has appeared at Chester Crown Court charged with wounding an off-duty police officer.

Adam Gouthwaite, of Plas Avenue, Prestatyn, pleaded not guilty to wounding, wounding with intent and affray on Monday.

Appearing in a black sports jacket and grey T-shirt, Gouthwaite, 23, denied all three charges related to an alleged assault on PC Thomas Philpotts, of Cheshire Constabulary.

The alleged incident took place outside Brannigans on Foregate Street, Chester.

Gouthwaite will now remain on bail before reappearing at Chester Crown Court on July 7 when he will face trial.
