Lord Mayor of Chester arranges medieval sword fight in city for St George’s Day
LORD Mayor of Chester, Councillor John Ebo, has arranged a medieval tournament to find a champion to wed the beautiful princess and to fight the evil dragon.
This colourful pageant of nearly 300 local school children from across the borough will be dressed as knights, kings and princesses, heralds and minstrels and will parade through the city celebrating the occasion with sword fighting, archery and jousting.
It all starts in Town Hall Square in Chester tomorrow at 11am before parading down to Eastgate Street for the first challenge – the sword fight.
From here they go to Bridge Street for the archery contest before returning to Town Hall Square for the final joust.
Our champion will then receive the hand of the fair princess, but beware there is rumour of a dragon – angry, fierce and hungry.
