Views sought over plans for £900,000 cycle and pedestrian bridge in Chester

CHESHIRE West and Chester Council's Cycle Chester Team is holding a public event to introduce a proposal for a new £900,000 Curzon Park Cycle and Pedestrian Bridge across the River Dee in Chester.

Funded by Cycling England (Department for Transport) and charity Sustrans, the Curzon Park Cycle and Pedestrian Bridge will enable Cycle Chester to meet its aims of providing low traffic cycle routes to and from Chester city centre, by creating a cycle and pedestrian link from Curzon Park to the Roodee.

A drop in event will be taking place from 1:30pm-7pm on Wednesday 21st April at the Quaker Meeting House, Meeting Room Three, Frodsham Street, Chester, where plans will be on display and the team will be present to answer any questions.

Richard Nickson, the Council’s Network Strategy Manager said: “The Cycle Demonstration Town status given to Chester in 2008 is an exciting and opportune time for the city to improve cycling and pedestrian facilities across the city.

”Around 12,500 letters are also being sent to homes in the immediate areas, asking residents to attend the drop in event which is open to anyone who would like to attend.

“Work could start on the new bridge by the end of this year.”
