MAKING business happen is to be the focus of a networking group launched in Malpas.
The launch event was held at the Jubilee Hall and more than 50 local business people gathered to listen to a talk by successful Malpas businessmen Jerry Brunning.
Jerry gave his full backing to the network and said: “Knowing who does what can only be to the benefit of everyone in business – and the money we spend on goods and services will be circulating in the local economy.
“An organisation like this will be so useful because it means we can get to know just the right person to ask for help when there is a problem instead of having to learn the hard way from our own experience.”
Mr Brunning acquired his first pub in 1981 and in 2007, sold by what had then become a chain. Based on his personal experiences he offered six tips for success – be good at what you do; have good financial controls; recognise your own limitations; empower your staff; embrace technology particularly the web and talk to people to bounce your ideas off others.
The website Malpasbiz.net is now live and the networking group is hoping to plan more events to bring the business community together.
