UNIVERSITY of Chester students will be raising the curtain on a funfair/circus themed event in a bid to raise funds for Claire House Children’s Hospice.
Organised by student group, Kissme Events, the Carnival Funk Event promises to bring sparkle, magic and the fun of the fair.
The event, which takes place on February 25, will be held at the Students’ Union Bar on the University’s Chester campus.
Sophia Tirelli, Event Organiser, said: “On arrival guests will be welcomed by the Carnival Ring Master and will be blown away by the dazzling fire poi, talented uni-cycling and magical circus entertainment.
“Amongst the clowns, the popcorn and the music there will be fairground games that will bring back those nostalgic childhood memories, including hook-a-duck competition, coconut shy, hoopla, strong man contest, face painting and the obligatory pie eating competition.
“As well as the fairground fun and entertainment, there will be resident DJ Ian Hutchins, amazing Funky House DJ, Jaycee Phunk, and Hard House DJ, Kyle Hackitt, for all those wishing to dance the night away.
“Carnival Funk is a great way to bring students and friends together to enjoy hilarious fun, interactive fair games, the variety of circus performers and acts, and most importantly raise awareness and money for Claire House Children’s Hospice.
“We are excited at the prospect of holding an unforgettable night which everyone will enjoy”.
Tickets are £3 each and are available from the Students’ Union and Kingsway site Tuesday’s and Thursday’s between 1-5pm. Doors open at 9.30pm and there will be a limited number of additional tickets on sale.
Laura Breen from Claire House Children's Hospice added: “Claire House Children's Hospice has a great relationship with the University of Chester and we love hearing the fresh fundraising ideas from students.
“We were very pleased that Kissme Events have chosen to support Claire House and wish them every success at the Carnival Funk event.”
Sophie added: “Carnival Funk is grateful to all of our sponsors who have supported us in the process of our event.
“A big thank you to Tesco Home Plus, in Chester, Andrew Collinge Hairdressing, in Chester, Kites Aloft, The Venue Chester, Chester Market, Abakhan Fabrics and the Fabric Place.”
