A MAN went shoplifting in Saltney on two occasions so that he could get money to put into his gas and electricity meters, a court heard.
Nicholas John Owens, 36, admitted stealing toiletries valued at £34 from Poundstretcher on January 31, and then general household items and cosmetics valued at £41 from the same store in November.
On Tuesday at Flintshire magistrates’ court Owens, of Medlar Close, The Lache, Chester, was given a 12 month conditional discharge with £75.98 compensation and £85 costs.
It was claimed on his behalf that he was simply having financial problems and that he was not returning to his old ways of shoplifting to feed a drug habit.
