QUEEN’S School pupils have been seeing stars, thanks to a generous benefactor.
Former pupil and keen amateur astonomer Ruth Rees has donated a modern 8” refracting telescope to the school.
The new telescope will now allow enthusiastic members of the school’s astronomy club to move from the basic theories of astrophysics to more practical activities.
The club meets once a week and members are looking forward to their very first star party on a clear evening.
Ruth helped staff, including astrophysicist Martin Moore, the school’s physics technician assemble the telescope and put it through its paces in classroom.
