Kelsall Green project organisers create online shopping link to raise funds

COMMUNITY leaders are using online shopping to raise money for children’s play equipment.

Fundraisers have created a website link for the successful Kelsall Green project so that shoppers using companies such as Amazon, Next, M&S and Asda can donate cash as part of their purchases.

Project bosses have also worked out that if all Kelsall residents switched energy providers online to get a cheaper deal on bills then Kelsall Green coffers would be swelled by more than £21,000.

With an impressive selection of play equipment for a range of ages already installed on the Chester Road site, the next step for the fundraising committee is to find £30,000 to fund the purchase and installation of a Queen Swing, zip-wire and tower system which can be used by children, teenagers and adults.

Fundraising committee chair Tara Edelman disclosed that £7,500 of the target £10,000 for 2010 has already been carried over from last year’s activities.

She also praised the hard work of all the volunteers who have helped make Kelsall Green a success so far.

She said: “If we overachieve our fundraising goals this year, there are two more pieces of equipmentŠleft to complete the Kelsall Green play area scheme, the roundabout and zipwire.ŠIt would be great if we could get the scheme completed this year.

“As the weather improves, new benches and table will appear on the green.

“They are wonderful features that encourage people to spend time and socialise on the green.

“They have been donated by many kind people and organisations from the village.”
