Crisis-hit Chester City FC suspended from Blue Square Premier for seven days

CRISIS-HIT Chester City have been suspended from the Blue Square Premier league for seven days, following a meeting of the Conference today (Thursday, February 11).

The club has been charged with failing to fulfil two league fixtures, the away match against Forest Green Rovers, which was called off with fewer than three hours before kick off after the club couldn’t field enough players, and Sunday’s home derby with Wrexham.

As it stands, the decision means the club will not be able to stage next Wednesday’s home fixture against Kidderminster Harriers.

The Conference will be meeting again next Thursday (February 18) to discuss the matters further.

The matters are being considered in accordance with Membership Rule 8.6. If the club does not provide a reasonable explanation to why these fixtures had to be postponed, the club could be thrown out of the league and have all their results for the season expunged.
