COUNCILLORS overturned the advice of officials and refused permission for an extension to a Tarporley property.
The resubmitted application was put forward by Ronan Dunne at 4 Bowmere Road.
Mr Dunne told planning officers at CWAC he was seeking approval for a two storey extension at the side of the two storey semi detached house and to relocate the access.
This would require part of a boundary wall to Bowmere Road to be demolished.
Tarporley Parish Council had no objections to the extension but initially opposed the application on the grounds of access and the demolition of part of the wall.
The application was recommended for approval. The extension was called into a CWAC planning board by Eddisbury councillors John Needham, John Grimshaw and Barbara Roberts (Con) who said they were concerned about the effect on the local environment.
It was then proposed by Cllr Claydon that the application should be rejected as the extension would unbalance the pair of semis, affect the conservation area and lead to the loss of wall.
