Cheshire mansion Broxton Hall still up for grabs after duo turn it down on Channel 4 TV show Relocation Relocation

A MANSION remains on the housing market despite an appearance on a popular TV show.

Broxton Hall, valued at more than £1m, was selected as the ideal future home for a couple by the hosts of Channel 4’s Relocation Relocation.

The well-known programme, shown last Tuesday, featured Victoria Wills and Frank Russell from Devon who were looking to move up North.

The business partners wanted a location in the North West to set up a weight-loss boot camp and Broxton Hall, once incorrectly advertised as the former home of James Bond star Roger Moore, was selected by star hosts Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer.

A bid of just £975,000 was accepted by owner John Ireland but after a structural survey was undertaken by the prospective owners, the offer was withdrawn.

A Channel 4 spokeswoman said: “It is a beautiful building and the couple fell in love with it. Kirstie and Phil knew that fitted their requirements with the area and the number of bedrooms. It was the ideal property for them.

“Unfortunately there was a major issue with it structurally and it was too much work for them to take on.”

The country pile, located off Whitchurch Road, Broxton, near Chester, boasts 13 bedrooms and was used most recently as a hotel and restaurant.

Owner John Ireland said he was still hopeful a buyer would come forward.

“We are aware that work is required in the building because it has been standing vacant for just over a year but the property in reasonable repair given its age.

“It’s an ideal opportunity for someone with the financial wherewithal and vision to take the building forward.

“It’s in a perfect location, certainly for equestrian facilities at Chester and Bangor-on-Dee.”
