Blacon man jailed for breaching curfew

A BLACON man was jailed for failing to comply with his curfew.

John Green, 37, of Glyn Garth, admitted breaking the community order 133 times, spanning more than 78 hours.

The community order came after Green had been convicted of theft and attempted theft in October.

Prosecuting, Kerry Holt said officers had made seven unsuccessful visits to Green’s home, receiving no answer when they knocked on his door.

Green had also had his electronic tag, put on as a requirement of the community order, removed by a doctor and disposed of in a bin.

He also failed to turn up to court on time when required on February 2.

Defending, Kate Thew said Green admitted the offence and had limited compliance with the order, providing explanations for some breaches.

Miss Thew added Green was realistic, aware his suspended sentence would be revoked.

Green had removed his tag because he had been experiencing cellulitis, which meant his leg swelled up. A second tag had since been placed on his other leg.

Presiding magistrate at Chester Magistrates Court, Mark Johns, said: “You have treated this order with little regard, and the number of violations we find as shocking.”

Green was jailed for 10 weeks for the curfew breaches, plus two weeks for failing to surrender to court.
