Hidden sites to be put in a new leaflet called Secret Frodsham

HIDDEN beauty spots and other secret sites around Frodsham will be advertised in hundreds of new leaflets to promote the area.

Frodsham Town Council will spend £270 creating 1,000 of the flyers in a bid to boost the number residents and visitors exploring what they call Secret Frodsham.

“I’ve realised people don’t know some parts of Frodsham very well, places that are mostly owned and managed by the town council that are well worth a visit,” said Cllr Graham Bondi, chair of the Trees and Their Environs Committee.

Marshlands, a small tree garden on the site of the old gasworks at the end of Greenfield Lane, Marl Pits, an off-road trail from Top Road to Crowmere, and the eight-acre Hob Hey (Hobby) Wood, between Townfield Lane and Dingle Farm, Bradley, will all be included in a Secret Frodsham hike on May 2 led by Cllr Bondi – one of 17 guided walks in the town council’s annual Frodsham Festival of Walks between April 24 and May 3.

“Adjacent to Hobby Wood is an area of newly-planted woodland which is privately owned, but there is public access to that and there is a bridge linking the two,” said Cllr Bondi. “We’ve done a lot of work down there and improved public access from Bradley, and sometime this year we hope to improve the path to the bridge.

“People should get to know these places.”
