Frodsham Town Council reveal precept was flawed and homeowners will see a rise in costs

BUDGET calculations for council tax in Frodsham this year were flawed and resident’s costs will actually rise it has been revealed.

At a budget meeting early this month, Frodsham Town Council were advised that residents could expect a reduction since last year of about £3 on the average cost per Band D household.

However, Cllr Pammi Taylor, who prepared the figures, has apologised after revealing that she made a mistake.

The figures have been revised and resulted in a £1.08 increase.

Councillors voted to endorse the approved precept for Frodsham, which stands at £124,530 –costing each average Band D household £32.99.

Cllr Frank Pennington said: “I don’t like it. A lot of people in Frodsham are struggling and this is the highest precept we’ve ever set.

“We had a mess up last year and now a mess up this year. I’ve found things in the council’s accounts I don’t agree with and I’m asking for a full investigation.”

Cllr Graham Bondi said: “We have accepted an apology from a very hardworking councillor who did her best in very difficult circumstances. ”
