Apprentice chef from Helsby to join Hell’s Kitchen star Marco Pierre White’s new restaurant in the Hilton Doubletree hotel

A COOKERY student has secured a top job at celebrity chef Marco Pierre White’s new restaurant in the Hilton Doubletree hotel.

Apprentice chef Sarah Ireland, 18, of Kings Drive, Helsby, will join the Hell’s Kitchen star and restaurateur at The Steakhouse Bar and Grill.

The former Mid-Cheshire College student said: “I am very excited but nervous – Marco has very high standards.

“Last year I had the opportunity to work at Le Manoir for three months with Raymond Blanc and the experience has driven me to become the best possible chef.”

Sarah, who has been nominated for the North West Young Apprentice of the Year, joined Mid-Cheshire College in 2008 and completed a level two qualification before progressing on to a level three in professional cookery.

As an apprentice Sarah now receives tuition in the workplace and is visited by her assessor, Jason Palin.

He said: “I am really made up for Sarah getting this opportunity.

“She is an excellent apprentice, very professional and always immaculate.”

The new venture will give Sarah the opportunity to work alongside some very experienced chefs.
