Essential works to A49 at Marbury part of £500,000 project

ESSENTIAL maintenance works and safety improvements are to be carried out on sections of the A49 Tarporley Road near Marbury, Northwich.

The £500,000 project funded by Cheshire West and Chester Council begins on Monday, February 8 and will be completed by the end of March.

The A49 will be resurfaced from Dones Green crossroads northwards to Brookhouse Lane and because the road is narrow there will be a reduced speed limit.

The road will be resurfaced in short lengths using temporary traffic signals. Working in this manner ensures that the road can remain open whilst work takes place.

Further north on the A49 between Grimsditch Lane and Bradley Brook there will be some lining works which will entail providing a hatched area along the centre of the road and installing four interactive speed signs to improve traffic speeds.

Marbury councillor Norman Wright said: “As the local Highway Authority we are committed to ensuring that West Cheshire’s roads are safe and well-maintained.

“Throughout these essential works access will be maintained for local businesses and residents and we will do all that we can to keep disruption to a minimum.”
