Tarporley Rotary Club put pupils to test in practice job interviews

PUPILS faced a grilling from Tarporley business brains during practice interviews.

More than 170 interviews were conducted by Tarporley Rotary Club at the village high school.

Rotarian David Lilley said the standard had been so high this year it had been so difficult to decide on the winners that extra prizes had been given.

President Joe O’Connor said: “Tarporley Rotary Club members all have many years of experience of working in business and industry, often as managers and directors. It’s great we are able to pass on some of our knowledge and experience to help local young people to maximise their chances of success in the future. With the help of the staff at the school we have had a record year for both quality of participants and indeed numbers. Every year a higher percentage of students take part in our interviews. This year saw that proportion at its highest. The word is out our interviews are beneficial to the students.”

Teacher Claire Blackhurst said “They all worked very hard to complete their letters and CVs and I’m proud of them.”
