Car halted in Chester city centre by burning bonnet
A DRIVER was left cursing his luck after the car he was driving burst into flames on a busy dual carriageway.
The engine of the Rover 25 the man had borrowed spontaneously caught fire, sending plumes of smoke into the air in Nicholas Street in Chester city centre near the new HQ building.
Firefighters from Chester fire station were called to the scene at 2.45pm.
Crew manager Billy Lenthall said: “The guy was driving along and his engine caught fire.
“Motorists did stop, they showed good public service.”
