A Paralympian from Sandiway will race to success for a children’s charity

A GB Paralympian from Sandiway has announced he is taking on a marathon challenge.

Matthew Dimbylow aged 39, of Sandington Drive, Sandiway who is a member of the England and GB Paralympic football teams has announced he is running the Virgin London Marathon to raise funds for the charity Caudwell Children.

The father of two has always been passionate about sport and played football at a semi-professional level, but it wasn’t until he was diagnosed with extra pyramidal syndrome, a variant of Parkinson’s disease, that sport really took over his life.

Matt said: “I became involved in disability sport in 2008 and I was then lucky enough to experience the Paralympic's in Beijing. Since then I have been actively involved in promoting Caudwell Children’s Enable Sport initiative and helping children reach their full potential.”

“Although promotional work is rewarding, I really wanted to challenge myself and raise much needed funds for this life-changing charity. As I was beginning my training for the 2012 Paralympics in London, a physical test like the marathon seemed like the ideal challenge.”

The marathon takes place on April 25- anyone wishing to support Matthew can donate online at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/caudwellchildren or by calling the charity on 01782 600114.
